Short story: Saturday, Dec 4 – Mixed drinks, Christmas ornaments creation and the last chance to see the Designing with Art Showcase!

The Designing with Art Showcase is an exhibit we created to highlight the work of 11 interior designers and give insight into how they use art in their spaces. To celebrate the last day of this event, we’re hosting a party at Menaul Fine Art and everyone is invited. We are going to have an expert mixologist supplying drinks out of his book on all natural party drinks. (Non-alcoholic drinks will be available too, of course.) We’re also doing art and crafts, sculpting Christmas ornaments. $20 gets you in the door with a drink in one hand and Sculpey clay in the other. My studio is also an official Toys for Tots drop-off spot so please bring some gifts for kids that could use a happy holiday!

I make my living helping people surround themselves with art and photos they love. Whether it is my abstract artwork or their photos on canvas, the goal is to create environments that raise the emotional level of the people in it.

Working with clients, I have seen how challenging it can be to bring order to a house and design and decorate it. It’s easy to get overwhelmed trying to coordinate all the elements at once–paint colors, flooring, curtains, furniture, etc. Often I am brought in to create art as the final piece to a total redesign that has been going on for 3-4 years.

Knowing that home decorating and design is such a large issue people, it makes me proud to announce a new site I have been helping create. Art-Decorating-Ideas.com is a resource for people tackling their own redesign projects. The site aims to lead a beginner up through the basics of design and color theory and give helpful tips and tricks about every aspect of home decorating.

The site has just launched but you can expect upcoming articles from professional interior designers and decorators, so keep an eye on it!

Sometimes my clients worry that they won’t be able to handle hanging a triptych on their own and they are afraid of purchasing a piece without a professional to help them hang it. I created this video tutorial to show how easy it can be to hang multiple panels without any guesswork.

How to hang a triptych (three art pieces) in a straight line. This technique can be used for precisely positioning and hanging any wall artwork. Created by Menaul Fine Art.

Tomorrow is the second seminar in Tony Rockliff’s series on internet marketing and SEO. The last one on search engine optimization was fantastic and I’m really looking forward to this next one. Next week on July 7 is the last seminar, “Successful Internet Marketing for Artists,” a topic I’m never interested in! The seminars are hosted in my art gallery at 1750 N. Hercules Ave in Clearwater, FL. You can prepay and register online here:

The Menaul Art Youtube Channel has been updated with a two-part video.

Menaul Art Printing in Clearwater, FL is an art gallery that offers a variety of services from custom abstract artwork to art/photo reproduction for other artists and photo retouching and restoration.

High dynamic range imaging (HDR for short) is a photographic technique that has become all the rage lately. The f8 Consortium, a group of local Tampa and Clearwater photographers (including myself) is opening an exhibit this Saturday, April 24, called “New Visions” (more details). Here is one of the pieces I will be showing, “Wholesale Sponges,” taken at the nearby Tarpon Springs sponge docks:

The “New Visions” exhibit features amazing shots and everyone should check it out!

Media Decor

I saw something cool and wanted to share. Media Decor makes a creative solution for hiding TVs when the screen is off. A custom-built devise can automatically raise and lower art that covers the TV. Their Youtube page just put up a video of them testing a model with my art on it (the piece is a non-triptych version of “Triptych in Brown“.)

How cool is that!

Here is the piece Cyndi Edwards of Daytime did. I put the video on Youtube so it would be easier to watch:
